IFS Celebrates the first anniversary of the Certificate in Lifetime Mortgages

The Institute of Financial Services is celebrating the first anniversary of the Certificate in Lifetime Mortgages (CeLTM®) today.

The specialist lifetime mortgages qualification was launched last year in response to a growing equity release sector, equipping advisers with the skills and knowledge necessary to advise consumers on this sensitive product area.

The qualification has received 2,000 registrations in its first year and now forms part of the Advanced Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (Adv CeMAP®), also launched in 2005.

"Equity Release has come a long way since the first home reversion plans of the late '80s," commented Mark Roberts, Head of Faculty Financial Regulation, at the ifs. "The fact that 2,000 advisers have opted to take a professional qualification in this area shows dedication to improving industry standards and a commitment to providing quality advice to potentially vulnerable consumers."
